Dive Theatre proudly presents Garage at the New York Fringe Festival.
[guh-rahzh. Verb.] Male initiation into manhood. To set upon in a forceful, violent, or hostile way. Usually instigated by the father. Resulting in the dropping or shrinking of testes. For occurences later in life see [atonement]
David Lawson has returned to small-town Arkansas with his wife Susan for the funeral of his father, Emmett, from whom he had consciously distanced himself over the years. The physical embodiment of his dead father is the Garage, a shrine to all the plateaus Emmett esteemed a man should conquer, and of course he willed it to David. As David is confronted with his pent-up past, he and Susan must also contend with Brandon, Emmett's foul-mouthed protege and David's childhood rival, who might very well offer a key to David's haunted sense of self-worth and reveal the often amusing but ultimately tragically human experience of the GARAGE.
